Definitely get the demo before you decide to buy the game (I should say if you decide to) because many people really don't like VX for whatever their reason. It starts blank and you can add things as you wish\ author=dethmetal link=topic=1225.msg18785#msg18785 date=1212535127.

E is your tab which was intentionally placed there for you to put in your own tile pieces. D is the dungeon tab (oh how perfect) and contains all of your rocks and the like. All of your beds, bookshelves, and indoor windows in here.

It also holds things like shop signs and barrels. It contains things like trees, windows, mini towns and castles. B is the outdoor and world map addons page. All of your water, sand, deserts, snow, and the like are under this tab. It is separated into five catagories, A B C D and E A is what I like to think of as the "main" tileset. The game works off of one big image that forms your games tileset. I've heard you only have a limited number of tiles per game. Also, the RTP tileset is very, well, square. You just click on a type of wall tile, drag it out, and it will make the edges and such for you. In VX, almost everything is done with auto tiles. Anyway, does somebody mind explaining exactly how mapping works?. Perhaps I will make a VX topic, because lord knows we need more VX users.Īuthor=dethmetal link=topic=1225.msg18785#msg18785 date=1212535127. This is not a VX topic, however, and I will not make any further posts plugging it in here. As for the chipset problem, I am convinced that you can make an entire game easily, even with the supposedly limiting problem of chipsets given. It is also more user-friendly then all previous makers, and some of the supposedly subtle enhancmenets - like the notes system - are incredibly powerful when combined with the use of scripts. It doesn't have the massive performance problems XP has. I can see why the Chipset issue might be a complaint worth having, though. Quite a lot of people have expressed (mostly undeserved) criticism of VX. If you're a beginner at RPG Maker, then I guess I'd recommend it, but it's nothing that XP couldn't do. The limited amout of chipsets you can import also was a disappointment. It has the first-person battle system (RM95, RM2K) and scripting (RMXP). It's not a bad maker by any means, but it didn't give us anything that we haven't already experienced (besides the slight change in mapping). Author=sdm42393 link=topic=1225.msg18748#msg18748 date=1212519912 I think I'm the only one (on this thread anyway) who wasn't really impressed with VX.
